Amsterdam, 11.05.09 - The sixth season of Germany's version of Pop Idol – "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" ended with record-breaking rates and a well-deserved victory of handsome young singer Daniel who went on to record a no.1-duet with runner-up Sarah. The sixth season of Germany' biggest television hit was also a busy time for Cologne's televoting export digame mobile, the company behind the handling of millions of viewers' phone calls and text messages to vote for their preferred candidate. Their Mass Traffic Operating Center can handle up to 6 million phone calls and 7.2 million text messages within one hour, so that the show's hosts on television will always have the results ready when it's time to announce who has to leave the show that week.
An additional feature to make calling in more attractive for loyal fans of the show is the so-called diga-PIA function (PIA stands for Personalized Individual Message, in German: Personalisierte Individuelle Ansage). Diga-PIA enables every contestant on the show to record five individual messages to thank the fans for their vote. The messages are randomly selected for every incoming call and many fans try to call several times to hear all five different messages of thanks from their favorite.
